MennoCross Results

Good work, boys and girls! That was another awesome day. The Sweetest Skinsuit in the World made its international debut and was warmly received.

Anna and the Cricket kicked ass in their respective races. The top step of the podium looks pretty good covered in Darkness.

They are here!

And they are very, very awesome. Much more awesome than this blurry photo suggets.

Come and pick yours up at CMU this afternoon/early evening. Those who haven't paid yet, please bring money.

Too Many Roosters?

If you have too many roosters on the farm, morning never comes. At least that's what an old Turkish saying would have us believe. How many roosters is too many is not exactly specified. But we have twenty roosters coming in the form of the brand new Dark Red Racing skinsuits. They are scheduled to be delivered today.

Twenty skinsuits seems like a lot. But we are a large group of cyclocross enthusiasts right now. We will wear them with proper pride at MennoCross on Saturday. And if morning never comes, that's not the end of the world either. It'll be like a perpetual TNR.

Skinsuits can be picked up at CMU later this afternoon.

Course marking continues today. Swing by and lend a hand if you are able. If you can only spare an hour or so, show up at 5pm to help assemble the Flyover.

Friday!

Some have suggested that we might need to resort to bribery in order to get people to come out on Friday to help set up the flyover. Then the Dark Red Rooster came storming into the DRR HQ and passed along this memo.

Now we can put up the Flyover dressed up in our fancy new racing outfits.

The Flyover Build will commence at 4:30 pm or so, with the heavy lifting scheduled for 5:30. Yes, we need you to be there if at all possible.

Joey's OK

That is good to know. But frankly, we are more concerned about the Tenor. He went down hard last night and wound up hanging out with the other zombies in ER at HSC. Special thanks to the kind bartender at the klubhaus who lent us her car so that we could take him in.

Get well soon, brother! We have some cyclocross racing to do.

The Junior Dark Side

It won't be long until Little M and others will be kicking our old, slow asses. That will be fun.

Republic of Manitobah Photos

Photos from the weekend are starting to pop up all over the interwebs. The highlight is this series from the Woodcock collection capturing the Hipster performing a trick we once saw the Original Hipster do with a set of barriers at MennoCross.

Republic of Manitobah Report

Nice course, if a bit on the short side. It was another fast one. And the kids pretty much kicked our asses. Stupid kids. The only race they didn't win was the CX 1/2/3 Women. But maybe that's just because there weren't any kids in that one.

The Hipster was standing by the mud bog with his camera. I can't wait to see what he came up with.

Thursday Anticipation

Pack up your cx bikes, boys and girls. We are going on a road trip. Specifically, we're heading to the little known Republic of Manitobah to race some bikes this Saturday.

Please note that online registration closes at the end of the day today. So if you don't have a season pass, make sure to get yourself on the start list.

If the race is anything like the story from which it derives its name, it could be very interesting.

CrossVegas Live

DarkCross may be the sweetest, but it isn't the only night-time cyclocross race in the world. Another one of the big ones goes down tonight in Sin City. The women start at 10pm Winnipeg time.

Happily, it is being shown live on a number of different outlets. You should all feel free to put aside whatever work you may be doing and watch it. Consider it research for next year's edition of DarkCross.

Look for live streams at cyclingdirt or cxmagazine.

DarkCross Primes Have Arrived

If the Darkness is the official beverage of the Dark Side, Jäg is one of our alternates. It is doubtful that every medicinal need will be met on Saturday. But some lucky winners will walk away with 56 health inducing herbs.

Cross Lab Photos

We know it's cx season now. The photos are starting to circulate.

Women CXers beware: the WCC is going to crush it this year.

DarkCross Week - updated Sept 10

Hold onto your hats, boys and girls. It is going to get a little crazy for the next six days. Here's the schedule:

Monday - rest and anticipation. A good opportunity to make sure your bike is working well. It might be the last chance before the race.

Tuesday - Cross Lab #2 at CMU. After this, your next opportunity to embarrass yourself in front of a group with a poorly executed remount will be at the Speedway.

Wednesday - Cyclocross Season Kickoff Party at the Belgian Club. Purchase a season pass at a discounted rate--$115 to race the entire season. Cash only! Come and pick up your new race numbers. And hang out with all the cool kids.

Thursday - Flyover dismantling and loading party at Mike's place. Always a good time. We'll need 8-10 people for this. And maybe a crane. Meet at 6:30pm. Deck comes off after 7:00.

Friday - course set-up day! We'll start early and stay until everything's done. You have all booked the day off work, right?

Saturday - the day we've all been waiting for.

Vicarious Vuelta Wrap-Up

In the end, the Ratt was able to hold on to the top step of the podium. But not before the Secretary put a bit of a scare into him. Darryl moved up into second for a while, thanks to having the best final GC performance in the pool. But Prince Dan moved ahead of him in the end to finish second. Again.

So Adrian gets to choose between the Sweetest Socks in the World, the Revolution Wheelworks socks, and the Tempranillo. Let us know what you want before it's Dan's turn.

Ian was last. It wasn't even close. So he gets to supply the Belgian beverage for the winner of the Cyclocross Pool in six months from now.

Full results and overall standings here.

Thanks for playing everyone.

The 2012-13 FGBC Cyclocross Pool will be starting soon. But first it'll have to wait until we're finished with the big party known as DarkCross.

Don't Get Mad, Get Stevens

The FGBC/Dark Red Racing is pleased to announce a partnership with Stevens Bikes. The Stevens Team Carbon is now the official cx bike of the Dark Red Side.

Dark. Sexy. German. It's a perfect match, really.

Stages 13-16

Sorry for the lack of updates. We've been busy riding bikes. And building them. More on that later.

Everything you need to know about the Vicarious Vuelta is right here.
