Pugs was set up with mechanical disks, 2x9 (22-32 rings, I think), gripshift.
Waterbottles in insulated holders (2 on fork, one on frame), handlebar bag for food, madatory gear (sleeping bag, stove, food) in bags on front and rear racks. He borrowed a cool little stove (esbit?) from someone -- crazy light. And pogies on the handlebars (pretty much everyone had these).
Everyone seemed to be dropping their tire pressure during the race. I think Lindsay started with about 20PSI, and finished with less (some guys were saying about 12 was right).
Other stuff people were using: frame bags in the main triangle, every manner of home made/supposedly freeze proof camel backs (most of them froze), titec h-bars, single brake (front or rear, take your pick).
