I was feeling kind of bummed about missing the annual FGBC winter 24 hour race. But Jonah cheered me up by showing me the cyclocross course he's made in our yard. He rides it several times a week. We ammended it a bit by adding the hills down around the back of the house. Now that I think about it, we could run a sweet cx course right out of our house. The yard keeps sloping down toward a creek for about 250 ft, and on the other side is a city park. Too bad it's all covered in kudzu. That stuff is worse than sand. In any case, here's a video of the course. It's a little over-exposed at points. Sorry about that. It was warm and sunny.

that course does NOT meet UCI regulations AT ALL... all garbage cans are to be at least 0.5 meters apart when entering a downhill... every one know that!
seriously sweet times though. tyson and emily have daily races in basement on their run bikes. our friends just can't understand how come we allow (and encourage) indoor riding in a finished basement... i can understand how come they encourage a 4 year old to play the Wii for "exercise".
anyway - you sounded pretty winded most of that video. you obviously need to ride more.

Yesterday I overheard him telling his sister how his upcoming birthday party was going to involve a bike race. A long one--as in they were going to race through not one but two consecutive nights. The most horrible birthday party ever, I guess.
