Did Somebody Say Hammer?

The entire Columbia-HTC team got the memo. Actually, it looks like they wrote it. Fabian and Lance got it too. So did Thor. All the other contenders for yellow and green seem to have missed it. The result was some late-stage drama on what was supposed to be a rather straightforward stage. Cavendish won again. But aside from Hushovd, he didn't really have any competition.

In the FGBC Tour de France Pool, Vic takes the stage win. He totalled 355 points on the day. Dennis and Cheryl were second and third, with 325 and 315 points, respectively. Andy and Melissa are still tied for the overall lead with 800 points. Brad is just 25 points back. But the gap between the podium and the rest of the field has gotten a little smaller. LeAnn, having misunderstood the criteria for choosing teams, has an early grip on the lanterne rouge. She had a second consecutive scoreless day, and seems stuck at 50 points. Bummer. But Jonny N is lingering around down there too. So we may have a race for last place yet.

Results and standings here.

If I was Contador, I would attack Armstrong in every mountain stage, split the team, and race for the win. Bruyneel and Armstrong won't be with Astana next season anyway.

Nor will Contador. It's Vino's team again next year.

I read somewhere that they want to keep Contador.

Reminds me of LeMond and Hineault in 1986.

I can't believe I just said that.

I'm sure they do want to keep Contador. The question is whether Contador wants to stay.

Yesterday and today were freakin sweet. I think it's awesome that the old man isn't turning into a bottle boy .

Contador will be riding with Casse next year. I think he'll replace valverde.

LA won't be able to hang with Contador and Sastre in the mountains. Sastre may make the podium yet, cause Levi will have his crappy mountain day and lose tons of time. And if you haven't seen the latest Toto cartoon, go check it out.
