Grand Beach

Good times at Grand Beach. The FGBC was represented by Jonny G, the Fraggle, the Rookie, and me, Herr Doktor. The President, although pre-registered, did now show up. But Dave D was proudly rocking his brand new sweetest jersey in the world. He looked pretty good in it, perhaps a bit too good, when he came flying by me on lap 3 after having fixed a mid-race flat. His points, however, do not contribute to the FGBC -RRR FGD Challenge. LeAnn and Jonny took home the prize money by finishing 1st and 3rd in their respective categories (Comp). Craig was 5th in Comp., while I mustered a 10th place finish among the so-called Experts. LeAnn will be moving up. And if Jonny's not careful, he will soon be joining me in the back half of the Expert field. Full results here. By the way, it is Fort Garry Bike Club, not Fort Gary. Our sponsors would appreciate it if you could get that right.

The Rookie supplied the post-race FGD. Much appreciated.

It also needs to be added that Halberto and the Olympia crew put on a sweet race. Best post-race spread ever, highlighted by sandwiches made with Halberto's bread and a cheese platter. And the hecklers out on course were enjoyable as well. The bar has been raised. Nicely done.

I didn't manage any action photos. But here are a couple of shots featuring the sweetest team bus in the world.

Jane B was busy snapping a bunch of photos, including these, which feature the sweetest jersey in the world:

Jonny G was apparently too fast to be captured.

Now I know you are all dying to know what the implications of all this were for the race that really matters, otherwise known as the FGBC - RRR FGD Challenge. It was a good day for the FGBC. We tallied 75 points between the four of us, more than doubling our previous total. It was not such a good day for RRR. Like the President, KK was not able to make the race after all. And over at the road race in BHP, Mike flatted after one lap and ended up with a rather expensive $27 DNF. Bummer. So the FGBC picks up its first win of the season, 75-0. The overall score, so far, is:

Good for you, guys and girl. It was a great day for a race—I was tremendously jealous.

Alas, the brownie points I earned by staying home exceeded any points FGBC could add to their tally.

RRR will be back.

I have no shame.

So-called experts? That comment was mostly self-directed. But not entirely. I think the terms used to name mtb categories are a little silly. That is all.

True enough..

I only consider myself an expert at something that I can't mention here...

That's what she said.
