My team sucks - a poem
(based loosely on the haiku
but it's way too long)

Hal wants me to write
a sonnet for this poem
I can't stop haikus

While doing yoga
I come up with pithy things
and count the syll'bles

And everything
that I count on my fingers
always has to do

with the fact that is
inescapable to me
that my team is bad

For my first gamble
in the world of sports betting
I bet on a team

Full of youngish men
(Younger than me anyway)
who seemed to have spunk

Shit! but I was wrong
They drank much beer in their youth
and they're really bad

Next year, possibly
I will give up the lanterne
whose colour is rouge

Oh my. That is brilliant, mrs. dr. With that kind of talent, you better show up at Haiku Cross this year.
