Honorary Captain's New Team?

The good news is that this makes it sound like he'll be back racing again. As he should be. Anyone want to join me to cheer him on at the Tour de Georgia next year? That's the tentative plan at least.

From CFA:
While previous rumors suggested that Floyd Landis would be riding for Rock Racing next season, I've now heard that Landis was seen in Greenville at the US Pro Championships this past weekend with Healthnet team owner Gregory Raifman. Healthnet, a medical insurance company, is pulling out as team sponsor at the end of this year. The team was thought to be still without a sponsor for next year and perhaps likely to fold, although they were still seeking new sponsors. However, rumors now suggest that a new sponsor might have been found, and that Landis could possibly be riding for this newly re-vamped version of the Healthnet squad next season. The new sponsor is not known for sure, but some people wonder if it could potentially be Smith & Nephew, a company that makes medical devices. Landis's hip surgery was completed using the Birmingham hip resurfacing system, which is among Smith & Nephew's signature products. Landis has been riding in an orange and gray Smith & Nephew jersey for the past couple of years, as the company has been a personal sponsor of his for a while. Landis is also currently featured on Smith & Nephew's Birmingham hip website. Only time will tell, but Rock Racing's Michael Ball was recently quoted as saying that Landis is too expensive for him to sign. Meanwhile Healthnet team president and sponsorship director Thierry Attias recently stated that "We are currently in discussions with four title sponsors with varying levels of interest."
