Anyone go to the MCA forum last night?

A report for those of us who couldn't be there would be greatly appreciated. Kevin?

it was an interesting forum. the mca executive has developed a 4 year strategic plan based on 5 pillars:
1)Recreation and transportation which they will be working closely with Bike to the Future. One interesting point they are going to try an introduce is cyclovia where city streets are partially shut down (i.e. one lane of portage ave.) and reserved for non-vehicular traffic.
2) High Performance - finding new ways of identifying and attracting high caliber athletes to cycling and supporting their development, including master's level athletes (this would be non-financial support as the mca does not receive funding for this level and they do for the younger set).
3) Organizations and Events - most of the evening was spent on this topic trying to find ways to ensure the availability and accessibility of high quality races and events and to attract more people to these events. yes, day licenses were mentioned, but this is much more complicated than it appears on the surface.
4) Development and Training - looking at ways of maybe creating some assets like a bmx track
5)??? didn't write this one down and i had to leave by this point, maybe kevin can fill in some missing parts.

this will all be presented at the AGM in november.

#5 Governance...Website (yeah...it sucks) etc.

Can't say I like shouting matches but there were good ideas brought forward to help with the plan.

What do you say, would a discussion forum be good?
