a better idea

dave d hit the nail on the head - replace a classic with a classic; the blundered hundred in place of r-t-b. its cheaper and better cycling to boot. 3 laps of the epinette trail (40km) gets you 120km, 4 laps for the insane gets you 160. anyone interested?

A great idea. I've always wanted to do that. But I'm still inclined to stick with Brad, Mike, et al. in the city. It's less driving, and less of an overall time commitment. But it still involves plenty of riding. Not to mention espresso and beer breaks at the Forks.

I don't mean to be divisive here. That's just where I'm at these days, given my rather more limited amount of time for riding.

This is going to be a smoking hot weekend… which is perfect for Spruce Woods. It is a Blunder 100, but I guess each person can do whatever is best for them. As for the driving… car pool and split the gas. Since there is no entrance fee to ride the Blunder other then the obligator pain and suffering that comes from riding 8-hours or so if you fast and much much longer if you are not so fast (deep breath) it should all shake out in terms of costs. Every time I have been there it was kick ass riding all the way, all the time! I suggest 8 am at the trailhead ready to ride/race.

PS this is meant to be a single speed event BUT even gear heads are welcome to suffer with us.

nice thing is there are two options to suit all budgets, time constraints, riding styles,...whatever. stories and photos will be shared i am sure.

is it just too bourgeois to race bikes in MB anymore?

Dave, might as well call the race what is was named 5 yrs ago:
Blundurd Hundurd...I've got stickers from the first 2 around here somewhere if anyone finishes the 100 miler...results are floating around the weeb somewhere....

Interesting. I rode Epinette a few years ago, and remember it being a wide smooth grass trail. Not super interesting. Maybe I have it confused with something else. Early dementia? Blessings to all who venture out.

I personally haven't even ridden all the river trails, I like the stealth feel of riding trails in the city, for me it's novel cause I live out in the forsaken 'burbs and yes, beer and coffee at will is appealing. Anyone up for a ride Friday morning? I start work at 11:30 so I was planning to get out for a couple of hours. It would have to be a 8 ish start.

better trails than reach the beach which is mostly gravel road and flat.

And no sand or the dreaded bog.

However there are lots of large hungry animals for the occasional sprint, and few stream crossings. I have a feeling I am going to be riding all by myself again :( Blundurd Hundurd it is! Send those stickers!!!

I am probably in and I think Don Scissons and Cory Smith are in. I have also contacted Tom and Cam and am waiting to hear back from them.
