new blog look

wanted to try a new look. unless there are streams of disapproving comment...
the cost has been the loss of the old comments in favour of using the new built in blogger system.

How about an XML or RSS feed? That way we don't have to keep opening the site...the content gets pushed to my rss reader?

Steve, what the hell are you talking about? This is a bike club not a techie club. Technology here still has mostly to do with ball bearings, or maybe--if we get really fancy--a fork lockout.

I like the new look--even if it is too sophisticated for my computer at home to handle. Any chance we could incorporate the FGBC colour scheme? You know, brand identity and all that.

actually, the "technical" director's comments notwithstanding... I'd be quite pleased to set up the XML or RSS feed if I knew how. I'm also not please about having to sign in to make comments... but comment spam has become fairly ugly...

OK while some would like to stay in the dark ages, others keep moving forward. Creating an RSS fees is quite easy actually...

I could help if need be.

If RSS doesn't somehow refer to singlespeeds, I think it should be banned from all bikeclub discussions. I know that may sound a bit harsh and exclusionary. But better to be harsh than to wallow in the kind of facile sentimentality that allows any discussion to take place just because people want to talk about it. Back to the dark ages, where wheels and levers, not to mention red-hot pincers and boiling oil were more than adequate on the technological front. Now we can kill people without getting our hands dirty. What progress!

So if I understand your facetious comments correctly, a new(er) technology such as blogging (reading and discussing bicycles online) is OK, however trying to streamline this procedure is not. Hmm, Mr. Hubie (I mean Dr.) how does this make sense? As a "club" we should utilize the talents of the collective.

Thanks for pointing that out. It hadn't occured to me that there might be a contradiction there somewhere. From now on, I'll submit all my comments on torn up pieces of napkin--in blood, or perhaps green bile.

Thanks for pointing that out. It hadn't occured to me that there might be a contradiction there somewhere. Caught in a trap of my own making. Impaled by my own spear. That's the oldest trick in the book, but it's still a good one. From now on, I'll submit all my comments on torn up pieces of napkin--in blood, or perhaps green bile.

RSS? Really Sweet Singlespeeds. Although, that might be a little more like RSSS.

Anyone heard of gmail, google's web based email? You get 1GB of online storage...quite nice. I have some invites to give away to anyone interested (it's still in beta). Just drop me a note, steveyens@gmail.com.
