A good friend of mine raced the Shendandoah Mountain 100 back in September. He finished in 45th place (out of 450) at 9:13:19, just under 2 hours behind the honorary captain, who finished 3rd. He did not get to meet the captain himself, but his son had the chance to receive some tips on bike handling and unicycling from him. And his family had a good time chatting it up with Ma and Pa Landis, whom they kept meeting at all the checkpoints.
Sounds like the race is a lot of fun. I'll likely be in the area next year, and may well race it. Anyone else interested?
