Thursday Anticipation

1) The 2008-09 FGBC CX Pool

Coming soon. More information to follow shortly.

2) Turkey Cross

Just when it looked like there might be a weekend without cyclocross, along comes Turkey Cross. It's in the tradition of Menno Cross--i.e., no fees, no licences, plenty of good times. In fact, Menno Cross was usually on Thanksgiving weekend, before Halberto moved it this year, so everything is right again. Better than right, actually, since there's another opportunity to get together and race.

3) The Sweetest Cyclocross Race in the World.

It's getting close now. T minus 10 days. Are you ready to have some fun?

4) TMHTE

This one's still a ways off, but it has North Carolina chapter simultaneously giddy and horrified. A 36 hour race in the mountains, consisting of six consecutive six hour stages. Beginning at midnight and ending at noon the following day, so two nights worth of riding. I will have to get better lights. If you're looking for a winter vacation, this one would give you your money's worth. You'll spend plenty of time on the best trails around these parts. And you could still get back in time for the third annual FGBC winter 24 hour race.

Here's what they said about last year's inaugural edition:
Pisgah Productions is proud to announce the first ever running of 'The Most Horrible Thing Ever'.

Starting at Midnight Friday night and racing until Noon Sunday (36 hours) Teams of two riders will race to reach up to 36 checkpoints. There will be six separate stages each with their own mandatory checkpoints and unique format. There will be time trials, specific routes, and PMBAR style 'choose your own adventure' stages all centered around White Pines group campground.

There is no entry fee. There will be no prizes. This race will be about glory and suffering, pain and endurance, fun and..... no fun at all.

There will be no amenities other than beer, toilets, a campfire, and a light charging station at the campground. You will need to bring EVERYTHING else you may need for the weekend.

Please do not underestimate the extreme difficulty of this event. If 150 miles of Pisgah in February isn't your thing.... This isn't your race.

Paddy--The Most Horrible Thing Ever sounds like it's right up your alley. Kinda far from Lethbridge, though.

Brad--Gary S is organizing. Like I said, it's just like Menno Cross--i.e., a cx throwdown. Just show up and ride.

I'm going for sure, and so's the Poosher.
