The real race looks very much like it might be over after Clenbutador escaped on Mt Etna today with apparent ease. Fortunately for those of us playing in the FGBC Giro d'Italia Pool, the vicarious race is still very much up for grabs. Chris O bagged a big win today to move within 5 points of Miriam's overall lead. Mark finished second on the stage, while Prince Dan and Randy tied for third. KK holds onto the final podium spot in the overall race, while Bill got punted from the top three.
After eight stages, we have had eight different winners. That is how we like it.

once i learned to stop worrying and love the 'berto, watching bike racing became much more pleasant. betting against him is frustrating because he's fast and he does love to attack and make the race interesting (at least he's taken the leader's jersey--now he'll probably just follow wheels for the next two weeks). besides, i can still root against him in court in the off-season.
i'm also quite impressed by my weird little imps, Gadret and Rujano.
I miss me too. I bought my race license today. Baby steps. Maybe the season will begin with the ITT on Wednesday.
Nope. The ITT (aka the warm-up time trial) has been cancelled for lack of a commissaire.
That sucks.
Nice. I wonder if I can get a refund on that race license. There should be a percentage of cancelled races over which you get you money back. 100% of Wed night road races have been cancelled so far. That doesn't look too good. At least we have vicarious racing. Holy crap.
Yes if that rumor about the itt is true, it sucks. Crits too.
What also sucks is my placing in your Giro pool.
In the grand tradition of Sheisse Bike, we should probably do our own ITT on Wednesday. It will celebrate the fun part of bike racing and not the bureaucracy of organization or lack thereof. We will call it the Super Happy Individual Time Trial--or SHITT. Stay tuned for more info. Or not.
Sheisse is right! Keep me posted. I am faster when I'm pissed off.
This may not be the end of the bad news on the organizational front, unfortunately. Stay tuned for developments.
The best response to the latest adversity is to resolve to make the TTT a resounding success... like all the cross races are.
