Belgian Supercross Report

It doesn't get much better than that, at least as far as cx goes. Cold. Greasy. Frustrating. Awesome. Well done, boys and girls. And special thanks to Hal, Ian and the Oly Crew. That was fun.

There weren't very many who didn't crash a couple of times. I think I went down 5 or 6 times. Twice over the bars in the mud bog alone. Jonny G got tangled up in a fence, just as he was about to catch Halberto. And every off-camber corner was a crapshoot.

In the A race, the FGBC placed three in the top 10. The Cricket was 2nd, I was 6th, and Jonny G finished 8th. That's the best result of the season for Jonny. So far. The Fraggle broke a derailleur. But she ran it out to finish and collect her Challenge points. Mike had a flat tire, but got back out on course to finish 16th. Dan N has had some bad luck this season. But he picked up the win today.

Thomas and Vic did the B race. I have no idea how they did. But needless to say they made us proud. The deep FGBC B race crowd we have come to expect did not materialize. Some were sick. Others were hobbled. Some had other commitments. And some simply failed to show up. Penner? RRR's new recruit, Artur, pulled off a thrilling come from behind win over Josh G, who was riding the Poosher's old Steamroller. The poosher himself was nowhere to be seen. The Impaler, however, was there. And he finally got onto the podium, finishing 3rd. Michelle won (and lost) the women's race. And El EspaƱolito was there too.

Has anyone seen my shoes? Black (and very muddy) Sidi Bullets. They were last seen in the lobby.

The photos sum it all up nicely:

That was fun. I just want to thank all the people who either stayed home or moved up to 'A' so I could get onto the podium. A great course, with the friendly Belgian club staff ready with fries and beer to top it off. Perfect.

I have to admit. as much as I hate cx, that course was absolutely awesome. And the Belgian club was even better. Cheap pints, and FF. Beautiful. Any other day I would have quit after the flat- but the course was so fun, I had to keep riding. Well done to all those involved. Kind of sad I missed out on the bread though (Hal).

I brought home one shoe that was not mine. If you are missing one left and possibly have mine, let me know. Right now the shoes are unidentifiable due to mud excess

In case anyone missed it, you can see Larsen just about riding over a horizontal Brian S. on page A5 of today's WFP. And Dylan's smiling mug, too. Nice photos by Dave L., as always...

Hal, I may have too. Especially if you're offering more bread. And I've never spent so much time cleaning a bike. I had to take my cassette off to get the grass and mud out(solution- delete the cassette?) Good times!

I hate getting dirty and I hate having to clean mud off my bike, but I never have more fun than a muddy cross race. Too bad we seem to get so few muddy ones.

I left my bike in my truck all night and took it to the carwash on Sunday. The lazy man's way.
