What's classic in April is not necessarily classic in July

Or maybe it's just that the hard men of spring get a little softer in the summer. They raced these same roads at Liege-Bastogne-Liege. But the race was effectively neutralized by a not so happy peloton after almost everyone went down on a particularly nasty downhill section. Chavanel still got the win and his time gaps. CVV and others still lost big time. The lucky one is Andy Schleck.

KK and Mike tied for the win. 195 points each. The second podium step was once again rather full: Andy L, Brad E, Chris D, Chris O, Dan L, Graham W, Greg W, Keith M, Tom K were all there (i.e., everyone who picked Chavanel). Lots of goose eggs again. 13 to be exact.

Greg extends his lead in the overall race to 55 points. Mike has moved into a tie with Olli for second. Melissa is just 5 points behind them.

Full results and overall standings here.

how'd you score this stage? after sylvian, the main group agreed to roll in neutrally, so i'd think that everyone in that group would get an even share of the rest of the points. if anything, the riders who finished up near the front are the heads of state (fabian) or jerks who were trying to profit in case there were stage rankings. other thoughts?

That wasn't a real stage so no points all across the board as far as I'm concerned.

There were still placings given out. We followed them, just like we always do. No different than a big bunch sprint really, except much slower.

Yesterday's "gentleman's agreement" look bit odd after today's stage. Apparently today it was OK to take advantage of the crash.
