Kevin, we need help

Let's put the question of eligibility aside for a moment. That will all get sorted out tomorrow night, so long as KK supplies the relevant documents releasing Gilles from his original contract with B&B. But we still find ourselves in a bit of pickle concerning the FGBC - RRR FGD Challenge. You will recall that Kevin B, the Farm Team's urban operative and media spokesperson, announced that the points for The Challenge would be doubled for the Back 40. I seem to be recall that this special offer applied only to the 80 km race. But looking back at the original announcement, I don't see that mentioned explicitly anywhere. Can you please clarify that for us Kevin? And while you're at it, can you clarify the following statement, especially as it pertains to Mike: "You have to FINISH. NO POINTS FOR A DNF." Mike is not listed as having DNF'd. But neither did he finish the full 5 lap race. Now he seems to exist in a grey zone somewhere in between your two sentences. Can you please rescue him? We need to know whether he should receive any points and, if so, how many? We recognize your legal right to make up the rules as you go along. And we look forward to having this confusing situation clarified so that our petty little competition may get back on track. Thanks in advance for your assistance in this important matter.

me and my big mouth, what have i done?

NO POINTS for a DNF, (them's the breaks guys), but yes POINTs for the 1 and 2 lap races. the question i will ask you, would you even want 1 or 2 lap points?

the confusion must have come in with the Butter Belt, THAT was 80k only.

now leave me out of it.

So . . . did Mike DNF or not?

yup, DNF.

Sounds reasonable to me, even if you want to count the sub-80 kms races as Kevin says.

So...Coach Dave and Johnny S are in; Mike is out. Double points for even the less manly distances. Next year we'll stack the shorter distance races and put a ringer in for the 80km race. ;)

Boy, RRR sure got its butts bruised yesterday (literally and figuratively).

Thanks, Kevin, for your impartial third-party mediation services and thanks again for a great event. Other organizers will be hard pressed to top the Back 40.

so get this, the Back 40 website is DOWN, due to high traffic. looks like i exceeded my bandwidth for traffic with my site host... how do you plan for that?

hope my host can fix that tomorrow. crazy!

I noticed, Kevin. Consider it another sign of your event's success.

BTW, I think that site has potential as a 24 hour race venue. Just thinking out loud.

...and by site I don't mean your website, but the race site itself.

Record traffic for the FGBC Blog today too.

As for The Challenge, I must admit my head is still spinning by the sudden complexity of it all. Math is hard enough as it is, let alone with all the new variables being thrown into the mix. We will get everything sorted out tomorrow night.

Very exciting race KB. Very well done. Great to read all the good comments. RRR actually had an awesome day (despite the paper results). We had 4 out of 7 guys who would race show up. Lorno wouldn't have been there if it wasn't for the one day license and took on the 80 with literally no riding this year. We rode ourselves delirious, and KK got the belt. Good times. Next year the whole team will be there-to defend the belt of course. Good job for the FGBC'ers too. Again Kevin, excellent job putting on the race. Well Done!

The new poster child for the Back 40 - 2010.

That's beautiful.

Next year, we take the belt. Johnny Softride will be our man for that mission.
