Thursday Anticipation

1) The aforementioned Birthday Ride

2) Grass Track Fridays

The exhibition season is done. The regular season kicks off a week from tomorrow. No word from the Grass Track Czar on whether or not there will be a chnage in venue. Stay tuned for more information.

3) OperaciĆ³n MUERTO

Round one is done. It was awesome. The next round is on July 5 with Reach the Beach. We are still waiting for a poster. And we welcome any special incentives you might want to consider for the FGBC - RRR FGD Challenge, a la the Back 40 Butter Belt.

The following description is up at the MCA site:
Reach the Beach returns after a year off and we hope to see many of you on the start line. Just where that line will be hasn't been determined but it will start in either Selkirk or Beausejour. That will be decided within the next week. This will make the event about 6 - 8 kms longer so we can surely say that the race is bigger. We are also exploring a slightly different finishing route as the cost of lifeguards for THE SWAMP is prohibitive.

Riders will not require a license to take part in Reach the Beach. This is a mountain bike race but it is ideally suited to a strong road rider. We like to think of it as Manitoba's Paris Roubaix with the sand sections being our version of cobbles. Entries will be available on the MCA site or at the Portage Olympia Cycle store

Impressive poster.

How many patio laps, Vic?

That poster is most impressive. Way better than the Roy Orbison/deer in the headlights pop art makeover you got, Brad.

I can't wait until I turn 50.

It's not the poster that's impressive. It's Vic.

As for whether this means there are any inferences to make about Brad, I will leave that up to others to discuss.

That's an obvious answer. My deficiencies are many and varied.

But yes, Vic is impressive. The poster doesn't make the man, the man makes the poster.

Sure. But if you found the right outfit, grew out your hair, and added some make-up . . . .

Been there. Done that. You can never go back.

We can discuss how many patio laps at our next Tues. meeting. Now if I could only ride my bike the way I can grow out my hair.

This discussion reminds me of Brad's all-time favourite song. He just kept playing it over and over again all the way home from Morden.

Some guys have all the luck
Some guys have all the pain
Some guys get all the breaks
Some guys do nothing but complain

Hopefully this comment gets noticed way down here...
I have been informed by my "coach" that I will be riding in Reach the Beach. What's the consensus on whether this one is doable on a cross bike as opposed to mountain?

The Dark Lord said...

Adam, surf on over to Dave D's site for a helpful discussion on that matter.

If you have a coach, then you have no excuse for not beating that 12 year old in the next crit.
