Ale-Jet 2, Cavendish 0

Petacchi takes his second consecutive stage. Farrar was right there again to take second. Gavazzi was third. Cavendish was not there to contest the sprint, having been held up in an earlier crash. He lost the pink jersey to Ale-Jet too. And today they hit the mountains, so the Manxman will have to wait to show off his new victory dance. It could have been worse. He could have been Christian Vandevelde, who crashed out of the race. The first name with FGBC Giro d'Italia implications to do so. Speaking of VdV, check out the interview with his teammate, FGBC honorary assistant captain Svein Tuft, who no doubt would have been on many pool teams. He explains his absence from the Giro, but notes that the Tour is still a possibility. That would be sweet. Pez has the lowdown on stage 3.

Watch the finish:

Over in the FGBC Giro d'Italia Pool, Craig takes the stage win with 305 points. Chris A was right behind him with 295. Dan L took the sprint for third with 230 points. Those happen to be the three teams that have Petacchi. Chris H holds onto the overall lead with 580 points. Craig (568) and Chris A (543) have moved into second and third.

Still very early. Losing riders doesn't help though.
